Social media is on a massive revamping which has grown even more these last couple of months.

This renovation has also extended to the most popular direct messaging app, WhatsApp.

Good news for all WhatsApp users. Great news for all WhatsApp business users.

WhatsApp users will now be able to search for businesses in the user interface of their WhatsApp app to easily find businesses.

This time around, this new feature will be available to all WhatsApp users but will be especially beneficial to business owners who are also on WhatsApp.

The WhatsApp search function will come with a mini map so you can easily find businesses close to along with category filters and verified business accounts.

This will make it easier to access your various in-app shopping options.

As explained by WhatsApp:

“We’ve built business search in a way that preserves people’s privacy. What you search for is processed in a way that cannot be linked back to your account. To start, we’re bringing the ability to search for a business to Brazil, Indonesia, Mexico, and the UK where people can find companies using our WhatsApp Business Platform. In Brazil, search will help people find small businesses as well.”

This will definitely be a big improvement for businesses that are trying to use WhatsApp to make sales.

In 2022 alone, social media has slowly become more of discovery platform as opposed to a customer and business relationship.

This means that more people are now increasingly sliding into DMs for business interactions.

This makes a WhatsApp platform a perfect place for business interactions.

But that’s not all.

Facebook is also planning on including a WhatsApp payment feature. This means that potential customers can now easily pay with their cards through chats.

“Ultimately we want people to be able to make a secure payment right from a chat with their credit or debit card. We recently launched this experience in India, and we’re excited to now be testing this in Brazil with multiple payment partners. This seamless checkout experience will be a game-changer for people and businesses looking to buy and sell on WhatsApp without having to go to a website, open another app or pay in person.”

An Era Of Personalization For WhatsApp?

Facebook’s long term plan for WhatsApp is to turn into the popular Indian social media platform which is “WeChat”.

In China, WeChat is used for a lot of things, from normal messagings to full on online business and also payments.

It’s safe to say that the WhatsApp platform is growing, just as the users and the opportunity it holds grows even more.

This is a sign to start leveraging the WhatsApp platform,  find out how it can fit in perfectly into your goals and how you can scale those goals with its new features.
